About the HAR Mark
The HAR system is the earliest agreement proposing a common marking for a specific product category complying with harmonised European specifications.
It is dedicated to cables and cords and enjoys a high reputation, making it a virtual standard on the European market.
How the HAR Mark works
Manufacturers located in a country where CENELEC standards have been officially implemented and no legal requirements or obstacles remain with regard to the putting on the market of cables and cords, can address themselves to a Certification Body member of HAR, usually the one in their own country.
After verifying that the production location complies with the HAR rules concerning QMS, equipment, personnel and manufacturing processes, a number of product samples are tested by the Certification Body. A positive conclusion of these tests will result in the licence to use the HAR Mark being granted to the manufacturer.
To maintain the validity of the licence, a stringent programme of surveillance tests and assessments carried out four times a year, is put in place.
