How the ENEC mark works

How the ENEC mark works

The ENEC Mark scheme procedures constitute a full ISO type 5 certification scheme.

Certification under the ENEC scheme is available to all sectors within the electrical industry. ENEC licenses are issued by Certification Bodies after rigorous testing in accordance with European standards.
The testing is conducted by approved independent test laboratories (ENEC TLs) located worldwide or, in certain cases, in approved manufacturers’ laboratories (ECTFs).

Today, approximately 17,000 certificates covering 80,000 products have been granted the right to bear the ENEC mark.
Certified products are subject to regular surveillance, including factory inspections and product retesting. ENEC certification remains valid throughout the lifetime of a product, accommodating any changes made.

The ENEC mark scope includes:

Standards ensure the products we use are safe and reliable, and that different appliances and pieces of equipment can connect and work together for a better experience.

European standards

A European Standard (EN) is implemented by the national CEN and CENELEC Members as a national standard, and therefore is included in the standards catalogue of CEN and CENELEC's Members, the National Standardization Organisations in 34 countries.

The CEN and CENELEC's National Members work together to develop European Standards and other deliverables in many sectors to help build the European internal market in goods and services, removing barriers to trade and strengthening Europe's position in the global economy.

The development of a European Standard (EN) is governed by the principles of consensus, openness, transparency, national commitment and technical coherence. More than 200.000 experts from industry, associations, public administrations, academia, and societal organisations are involved in the CEN and CENELEC network that reaches over 600 million people.
