Developments of the CIG Inspection Scheme

This week, the ETICS Inspection Policy Committee (IPC) focused on important steps to strengthen the CIG scheme:

✅ Developing a service offer for non-CIG Members to allow authorised use of CIG documents.
✅ Updating and improving operational documents to ensure requirements align with new circumstances.
✅ Streamlining and enhancing the sample selection process for product surveillance.
✅ Promoting the CIG-Inspection Scheme worldwide with the goal of welcoming new members beyond Europe.

The CIG Factory Inspection Scheme (CIG Scheme) is the leading inspection scheme for electrical products and components.

It operates as a multilateral inspection agreement complying with harmonized European specifications. The CIG scheme enables CIG member organisations to conduct inspections at manufacturer locations. The inspection procedures are based on international guidelines and are uniformly applied by all member signatories of the agreement.

The scheme is used for the surveillance of type 5 certification.

All inspections are conducted with professionalism and technical competence, supported by harmonized training and operational procedures. Inspection reports are treated with strict confidentiality, in compliance with mandatory laws and accreditation regulations as defined in the CIG Agreement.
